Call for Papers: Cusa and Religious

The Franciscan Institute of St. Bonaventure University and the Cusanus Society of the UK and Ireland invite abstracts for a session on Nicholas of Cusa and religious orders for the International Medieval Congress and Leeds University, July 7-10 2025. Papers are invited that examine a) Cusa’s interaction with the mendicants and monastics in his own day, both intellectually and in his reform efforts, b) his reception of mendicant and monastic writers, whether Bonaventure, Aquinas, Albertus Magnus, Scotus and beyond. While his theological and philosophical engagement with religious on the doctrine of God, cosmology, epistemology, and mysticism are evident points of engagement, his work on ecclesiology and politics are also open for consideration.
